The Tractive X-TREME shock for the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin uses a closed, pressurised monotube design with a separation piston to keep the oil and gas separated. This architecture helps maintain consistent damping behaviour over long, rough rides by reducing aeration and fade. It’s built as a complete rear shock assembly with an external reservoir and adjustable damping.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised monotube shock with oil/gas separation via an internal separation piston
  • External reservoir to support stable damping performance during sustained use
  • Coil-sprung shock assembly

Tuning Controls

  • Triple-adjustable damping: rebound, plus separate high-speed and low-speed compression adjustment

Base Setup (factory preset)

This shock is supplied with Tractive’s baseline settings as delivered from the manufacturer. Use the adjusters to fine-tune for load, tyres, and riding conditions once installed.

Before You Install

  • Confirm fitment for your specific Africa Twin variant and model year before installation
  • Ensure correct spring rate selection for your typical load (rider, luggage, pillion) as this affects ride height and damping balance
  • Installation should be carried out by a qualified technician with suitable tools

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a pressurised, oil/gas-separated shock with an external reservoir, this unit is designed to be serviced to restore oil condition and damping performance over its lifecycle. Service intervals depend on use and operating conditions.
