The Ohlins HO142 is a rear twin-shock unit from the STX 36 Twin family, built to suit the Honda CB 400 Super Four. Who this shock is for

Designed for CB 400 Super Four riders running a rear twin-shock arrangement who want a more controlled and tunable setup than a basic replacement shock. It suits riders who value stability and confidence from the rear end during everyday road use and spirited riding.

Shock design & features

This is a gas-pressurised rear shock configuration intended to reduce fade and keep damping behaviour consistent. As a twin-shock setup, it supports the bike’s original architecture while upgrading damping quality and overall composure.

Tuning controls

The HO142 provides damping adjustment for both compression and rebound, allowing you to tailor support and response to your riding conditions. Spring preload adjustment is used to set ride height and sag correctly for the rider and load.

Before you install

Confirm fitment for your exact CB 400 Super Four variant and check clearance around guards, chain and exhaust. Set sag and baseline damping after installation, then make changes one at a time to understand the effect of each adjustment.
