The Ohlins STX 46 Street rear shock for the Kawasaki VN 900 Classic and VN 900 Custom is built to improve control and ride quality in real-world street conditions. It uses an oil and gas separated design to keep damping consistent as temperatures and workload change. The overall aim is better chassis support and clearer feedback without making the bike feel harsh.

Developed from Ohlins suspension engineering, the STX 46 Street platform focuses on stable damping behaviour and predictable response. It’s intended to deliver a more controlled rear end through bumps, braking transitions and sweeping corners. The result is a calmer, more composed ride with improved confidence.

Suited to VN 900 riders who want more consistency and support than a basic stock shock can offer. It’s a practical choice for everyday road use, touring and weekend rides where comfort and stability both matter. It also suits riders who prefer to fine-tune how the bike reacts to different loads and road surfaces.

Shock design & features

This is an STX 46 Street shock with separated oil and gas to help maintain damping control during sustained riding. The internal layout is designed for stable performance and repeatable behaviour over time. It’s built as a dedicated rear unit for the VN 900 chassis application listed.

Tuning controls

The shock provides rebound damping adjustment so you can tailor how quickly the rear returns after compression events. It also includes length adjustment to help set ride height and chassis attitude. These controls are useful for dialling in feel for solo riding, carrying a passenger, or changing tyre profiles.
