The Ohlins AP351 STX 46 Supersport rear shock is a purpose-built replacement unit for the rear mono-shock position on selected Aprilia models. Design architecture

This is a gas-pressurised, oil/gas separated rear shock (not an emulsion design). The separated layout helps reduce cavitation risk and supports more consistent damping across longer, harder sessions.

  • Rebound damping: influences how quickly the shock extends after bumps and acceleration loads, affecting stability and grip on corner exit.
  • Compression damping: influences resistance to shock compression under braking, bumps and cornering loads, affecting support and harshness.

Suitability & limits

Configured as a direct-fit rear mono shock for Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory and Tuono applications as listed. It is a tuning component and works best when the rest of the chassis (tyres, geometry and linkage condition) is in sound order.

Setup considerations

Start from a sensible baseline and change one variable at a time. If the bike feels loose or vague after bumps, rebound may be too light; if it feels harsh or skips under load, compression may be too firm.
